I’ve been just taking the raw files and using wgrib2 to turn them into netcdf files that I can then read in as raster bricks. So, that works!

There are a number of geospatial analyses that I’d like to do that are easier/faster with rasters, and I haven’t been able to convert easily between formats save by saving them and using wgrib or wgrib2 to convert to netcdf files, which feels like an unnecessary stopgap.
