  It passes R CMD check just fine on R 2.12.1 under MacOS X here.  The
error message looks pretty obscure (compiler bus error [!]). It sounds
worth asking the r-forge maintainers?

  Other building news:

  checking CRAN build tests:

  failing on Solaris (do we care???)

Failing on windows, but this looks like a glitch in the build system (it
can't load the ape package because it can't find the nlme package ??)

  We're getting a few "notes" on the other builds on CRAN, e.g.

sub-directories of 1Mb or more:
libs 10.4Mb

  [don't know if we can do anything about this, it's probably just from
building all of NCL?]

  There is another NOTE regarding partial matching which I hope to have
fixed on r-forge.

  The RUnit test output is *very* noisy at the moment.
