[GenABEL-dev] how to get devel-version of GenABEL packages working on Linux or Mac OS, and how to commit changes

Hi all,

I thought these instructions were fine. A small comment, if you are 
thinking of using for a HOWTO...

I use Ubuntu and found I needed to modify .bashrc, in order to get my 
local shell to modify R_HOME (I think maybe .profile works only for 
login shells?) Also in Ubuntu R binary is in /usr/bin so need to 
specify  R_HOME=/usr/ seems to be
