I think I see the cause of the error in our startup code. However, I am
currently on vacation and in the middle of moving. My box with R testing
environments is currently packed away in a basement in Salem.

I can get a fix out sometime this month, but not by July 9. Is there an
impending R release that will be affected by this bug?

Thanks a bunch for sending out an alert.
