Dear ViennaR meetup members,
since March was such a huge and therefore demanding event especially
for everybody involved in organizing it, we decided to skip the April
2019 event.
Therefore this is already the early info regarding the MAY (I repeat
not April) meetup.
As you an see date and place are already set
And regarding the content/topics we can also already tell you about:
1. Mikkel (CopenhagenR member and Co-Organizer)
who, while paying a short visit to Vienna, decided to stray aside from
his Copenhagen-R user group and drop Vienna<-R a visit for
presentation, little chat/discussion and some beer(s):
His presentation will be about
"Easy peasy massive parallel computing in R"
i.e. the 'future' and 'furrr' packages in R provide a framework that
makes it possible for you to write code, that works seamlessly on your
laptop or on a supercomputer. His R-talk will show you how. We will
run through a concrete example that we first execute on a local
machine and then on a much more powerful server. Most probably sharing
some insights later (at a beer or two afterwards) on what CopenhagenR
has been up to lately.
2. Resul (ViennaR member)
Resul wrote the following mail:
I used R to derive The distribution of tenant benefits in Austrian
social housing (i.e. gemeindewohnung and genossenschaftswohnung) and
measured welfare. I estimate the equivalent-variation measures for
Austrian households living in social dwellings using EU-SILC data. I
assumed a Cobb-Douglas u. function, I used observed rent-income ratio
for parameterization.
The meetup will take place
on Tuesday, May 14, 2019
at 7:00 PM
in D4.0.133 Seminarraum.
Greetings,
ViennaR organizers
