Hi Adam,

I just ran the example code from DODSGrab and it worked fine for me.? Can
you try running it at home?? If you only get the issue while at work, then
it's likely your firewall is rejecting connections through port 9090.

If the problem follows you home, please send me the output of sessionInfo()
so I can see what version of R you're using.

GetDODSDates(abbrev="gfs_0p50")

Can you provide the URL of the example you used?  It's outdated, and I
need to change it.  NOMADS changed from gfs_hd t- gfs_0p50 several
years ago.

Here's an updated version of the blog post you were trying to use:

I just checked all the examples, and they work.

Those examples should give you enough information to get wind speed
and wave height.  Attached is an example of how to get current data, I
think, but I do not have much experience with this model so you might

Hi All,

I have finally released an update to rNOMADS.  It's been a long time
coming.  I recommend upgrading immediately, since I put in some sanity
checks in BuildProfile() that throw a warning when you try to make a
profile outside of the model domain.  Since many people use negative
longitude and models (at least the GFS) use positive longitude, this
could potentially result in a serious problem.

The new version has been accepted onto CRAN and should be available
for download within 48 hours.
