This has been discussed before here, on r-sig-mac, on stackoverflow and other
places: Things changed on OS X pre / post OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks").  

I don't use a Mac so I won't be able to edon't pay particular attention to
this but as I recall the recommendation was to get the tools from
