Agreed. I'm suspecting, given the difficulty I've been having, that  
upgrading is outside my skill set (during the hackathon, Derrick  
Zwickl incorporated NCL with RCpp, I wrote the new functions in R and C 
++ to pass info (file names, trees, data) back and forth between the  
NCL and R and process the info in each language).
