Hmm, weird, I don't get that error on a fresh checkout. I'm using
autoconf v2.69 (autoreconf -V).

Strangely enough, configure.ac does define the AM_CONDITIONALs with
HAVE_PDFLATEX and BUILD_latexdoc, in lines 162 and 163 respectively.
