[GenABEL-dev] a couple of questions concerning ERC grant

Dear All,
I am going to apply for an ERC starting grant this year, and this application will assume the GenABEL project (not just the suite!) as a framework for methodology development.
I think of asking money for the development of new methods (so all of us people excited about genomics can have more opportunities within the suite); GenABEL core development/redesign, so all GenABEL suite packages can benefit from it; some 'community' money for optimization 'sub-grants' (e.g. if you have a great idea and a prototype, but some professional programming needs to be done before the software is really fast, optimal and friendly, you could apply for some professional programmers time); also some money for community development (ideas: partly sponsored courses, workshops, visitor programs for these who want to develop methodology).
Few questions to you:
-- Would you support this idea in general (in which case I will greatly appreciate a letter from you to support the grant application, please drop me an e-mail)
-- Is that OK with you if I announce that I am applying for ERC and ask for support letters from existing users through the GenABEL project infrastructure (forum news, GenABEL.org news)? Basically, by collecting these letters I will try to prove to the reviewers that GenABEL is already stable framework, it is something really used and useful, something worth investment in.
-- If you would be willing to ask any further question, give suggestions, discuss possible ideas, or give an advice, I will highly appreciate this (please answer to he list or contact me personally -- as you feel appropriate)
with best wishes,
Yurii
