Dear Susannah,

thanks for the response - great to hear about your related plans!

Our site and tool documentation are mostly in Finnish, as we believe in localization in the open government data context. The documentation is at the moment lagging a bit behind tool development due to the volunteer-driven nature of our project. But we are right now working to improve the documentation. The current tool documentation is available through the wiki at (google translate may help): https://github.com/louhos/soRvi/wiki/Data and the source code for each tool can be found from the GitHub account at https://github.com/louhos/soRvi And (preliminary) installation instructions for the sorvi R library at: http://louhos.github.com/sorvi/asennus.html

Most of these tools concern Finnish open government data and may not be as such directly applicable for your purposes. But they could provide a starting point. We would like to promote & network similar initiatives in other countries as there would certainly be overlap that can be utilized.

It would be great to discuss together related issues. At least some of us would be available for a phone/skype meeting at least on July 20-24, August 7, and then August 20 onwards (summer holidays now ongoing here in Finland, and many people go off-line). Let us know how these times would match -
We took a look through your site and it looks very interesting, but is there any way to learn more about the specifics of the tool you offer? We have an in progress project which is especially relevant to your work, and might even be able to take advantage of code you have already written. Any chance we could hop on the phone this month to describe and get the feedback of you and/or your colleagues?

In the Finnish Louhos project (http://louhos.github.com/en), we are working to collect comprehensive software libraries to analyze society and decision-making processes based on publicly available data resources. Our project aims to combine latest advances in data analysis to up-to-date data resources and to provide freely available analytical research tools for academics, NGOs, journalists, citizens, and other target groups. I felt that this project is within the scope of your initiative, therefore wanted to follow your request and send a note. We will be happy to provide further information of the project, if you wish.
