<div>Hi Ruth.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I discovered why R2.14+RSiena was not working. I found NaNs in one of my covariates. For some reason this does not stop RSiena from running in R versions less than 2.14.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I also discovered that once this covariate issue is fixed, the multiple processor option works fine in R2.14. However, the issue is still present in R versions less than 2.14. That is, everything works as expected in R2.14. But I can still only use one processor in R versions < 2.14.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Additionally, opening port 10187 and unblocking R itself (I think this means Windows gives all-port access to a program) did not solve the problem.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I'm perfectly satisfied at the moment, but I thought you may be interested in the information. Thank you again for your help.</div>
<div> </div>

Here I am asked whether to allow the program to get incoming connections. (And it seems to set it up to allow, regardless of what I answer, but that is another issue! On the office machines it hangs whatever I do.) But if I add an entry for RGui in the incoming firewall tables, which says block this process, all is well. There is no message and it runs.<br>
<br>On XP (not high security version, just a laptop with unprivileged user) I get a message but can ignore it completely. I can only think yours is a firewall issue, but not one specifically to do with the program: some other option has been turned off. I am not knowledgeable about Windows admin, but RGui or Rterm is trying to communicate with 'localhost' using port 10187. Maybe this port is not open. The actual number can be changed with a little effort (ask me how if you need to do it), in case your admin has turned them all off and would be willing to turn on one but not that one.<br>
<br>Having been away for a few weeks, I guess I now need to check everything works with R 2.14.1.<br><br>BTW, I gather from R 2.15 it will be possible to use openMP and multi-threading within R on Windows, but this would require major changes to RSiena so is unlikely to happen soon.<br>

<div class="im">Hey Ruth.<br>This machine is using XP. I do not get the option to "unblock" or "keep<br>blocking." It appears to simply be a notice. In the past I have been<br>given the option, and I vaguely recall that it didn't matter which I<br>
