Dear pomp users,

I've just submitted version pomp 0.39-1 to CRAN. Source code and binaries
should become available on the mirrors over the next few days. This release
includes a major improvement to the basic 'pomp' class. Because it is so
frequently convenient to transform model parameters prior to estimating them,
facilities are now provided to make this easier. Two new optional arguments to
the 'pomp' function allow the user to specify an arbitrary parameter
transformation function (and its inverse), which will then be stored in the
resulting pomp-class object. These functions are then applied when the 'coef'
or 'coef<-' methods for getting or setting model parameters are used. Each of
these functions now have a new optional argument 'transform'. When
'transform=TRUE', the user-specified parameter transformations are applied as
appropriate. By default, 'transform=FALSE' in these functions so that the
default behavior is unchanged. See the help pages (pomp?coef), the new
section on "transforming parameters" in the "introduction to pomp" vignette
(vignette("intro_to_pomp")), and the package NEWS file for more information.

All the best,

Aaron
