Dear All,

We had a discussion with Lennart recently, and thought it may be good if the GenABEL project gets more visible on social networks. I can imagine there are only few people who subscribe to RSS feeds, but many people are using Twitter and Facebook, so for these it may be an easy way to keep up with latest project developments.

For now we have set up an account on Facebook (search for "GenABEL project") and Twitter (GenAproj; it may take few days before it becomes findable).

We thought how we integrate these social networks with our existing infrastructure, and for www.genabel.org obvious solution is to have

1) For the site/project as a whole - buttons "Follow us on Twitter" and "Like on Facebook" (front page? where on the page?)

2) For news (and may be individual package pages) - buttons "Like on Facebook", "ReTweet", "Share on Facebook"

Please let us know what you think - does this sound like good idea? Would anyone know how we can easily implement this functionality in Drupal setting we use? Any other comments welcome.

Lennart & Yurii
