From marco.maier at wu.ac.at Wed Feb 12 11:43:46 2014 From: marco.maier at wu.ac.at (Marco Maier) Date: Wed, 12 Feb 2014 11:43:46 +0100 Subject: [DirichletReg-News] DirichletReg 0.5-0 and Tech Report available Message-ID: <000b01cf27df$4ea43b90$ebecb2b0$@wu.ac.at> Dear DirichletReg Users, I have finally managed to fix some minor issues and implement requests in the new package version, 0.5-0, that is available via R-Forge (for Linux and Windows): > install.packages("DirichletReg", repos="http://R-Forge.R-project.org") I have migrated some routines to C (with the old ?pure-R? routines as backups) and tried to streamline the code without breaking anything. Also, Hadley Wickham?s great package ?testthat? is now being used to implement a test-suite for the whole package that serves as an early warning system for me to avoid any disastrous code changes. Since the package has been reasonably stable and robust, I have removed the ?beta-version? message when the package is loaded. Another reason that has led to a delay of the new version?s release was a working paper that is finally published and describes the methods and implementation in detail, along with some worked examples: Maier, M. J. (2014). DirichletReg: Dirichlet Regression for Compositional Data in R. Research Report Series / Department of Statistics and Mathematics, 125. WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Vienna. http://epub.wu.ac.at/id/eprint/4077 The whole code I?ve used in this paper is available as a vignette in PDF, Sweave and R-code files. For more information, please have a look at the NEWS section of the package. I would be glad if you upgraded to the new version and used it with new and existing code ? if there are any errors, please don?t hesitate to contact me. I plan to leave DirichletReg 0.4-0 on CRAN for a month or so before I upgrade there as well. So you can use it as a backup, if any of my ?improvements? should turn out to be bugs and break some functionalities. Kind regards, Marco Mag. Marco J.
