Maybe you have other issues, not necessarily quality of data, which is more like a philosophical thing, you can try with large burn ins, or better, larger thinning?</div>

I have some serious issues in the past and saw a paper (cannot tell the exact one, it was seabirds, using BaSTA, in JAE) with huge thinning, and that worked for me too.</div>
